Curriculum at Growing Minds

A fun & engaging preshool curriculum your child is sure to love!

The basis for our preschool curriculum is a program called Fireflies™ that is organized by the company, FunShine Express™.  Fireflies™ is a high quality, professionally designed, early learning program that helps to create an excitement for learning and build school readiness skills.  This curriculum offers a wide variety of ideas to build early literacy, math, science, social skills, and MORE!  Fireflies™ will help me address each child socially, physically, emotionally and cognitively and it will stimulate thinking, reasoning, decision-making and problem-solving.  Our developmentally appropriate curriculum will have the depth to meet educational standards being implemented through out the United States.

Our Curriculum includes the following:  Colors, Letters, Writing Letters, Pre-Reading, Numbers, Writing Numbers, Shapes, Math, Science, Cooking, Creative Arts, Story Time, Music & Movement, Sensory Activities, Creative/Imaginative Play, Group Activities & Games, Social Skills & Etiquette, Listening Skills, Self Help Skills, Recess and Free Play.

Please visit the Funshine Express - Fireflies - website for more detailed information.

We will also work on proper etiquette and manners, learn more in depth social skills, and work on independence/self-sufficiency (put on his/her own shoes, jacket, clean up after one's self, etc.).

** Every other Wednesday we will have Show and Tell.

HOURS/DAYS

AM Class:  8:30am - Noon
PM Class:  12:30pm - 4:00pm
Each class is offered Tuesday-Thursday.

Our center is designed for children ages 3 - 5 years old(Some 2½-year-olds may attend based on maturity and readiness for the school environment to be decided during a one week trial period.)

My classes are held for more hours than most traditional preschools.
This enables us to learn in a relaxed environment - we won't have to rush through our day or the learning material. We will have ample time for each activity.  Also, potty training IS NOT required.  Most children are not fully potty trained by age 3 and we believe that should not prevent them from attending our early learning center when they are clearly ready to do so.

► Our day will include 5 different "learning periods".

  • Cooking Class, Super Science -or- Sensory Stimulation
  • Creative Arts
  • Math, Dramatic Play, Group Game -or- Social Development
  • Preschool Learning & Fine Motor Development
  • Story Time and/or Music & Movement
For more information on what we will be learning and doing during each "learning period" please visit our Daily Activity Schedule page.
